Driving directions: Corman Air
Park is located 17 kilometers southeast of Saskatoon, as the airplane flies, but most of us have to drive there!
From Saskatoon, there are two ways to get there. Both have their pros and their cons.
The most used route, is to take Highway 16 from Saskatoon towards Yorkton. At a point 10 kilometers East of Saskatoon, turn right at the first turn you can make after the Highway goes from four lanes to two,
do an imidate left turn on to the paved grid and then go 6.6 kilometers south. Turn left on Melness Road and procede another 1 kilometer east. Watch on your left for a sign at the entrance
to the airpark. (See map below, Marked in blue).
This route is almost always good and has the advantage of only having one kilometer of gravel on Melness Road.
It should, however, be avoided after heavily blowing snow, as the paved grid tends to drift in very badly.
The simplest route
is to take Highway 11 south from Saskatoon towards Regina. At a
point 10 kilometers south of the city (just south of the Prairie View
Chapel) turn left (East) on Melness Road. Go
straight east on Melness Road for 6 kilometers, to the Stop sign and then one more kilometer across the paved grid. Watch on your left for a sign at the entrance to
the air park. (see map below, the route marked in red)
This route is generaly good, but it has the drawback of several kilometers of gravel on Melness Road.
It is the best choice in winter after a heavily blowing snow storm, but a bad choice in summer after heavy rains.
